MUSIC EDUCATION – Band
Curriculum Guide
Band Website
All students are eligible to join band as an elective in fifth through eighth grades. The band classes meet two-three times a week as a large ensemble and once a week in small lesson groups by grade level. The purpose of the band is to provide students with the opportunity to learn to play an instrument, perform in an ensemble, and to develop an ability to work well with others in a large-group setting. Band is also a class which reinforces other curricula such as mathematics, language arts, foreign language, and social studies. In addition, band class uses many of the 21st century skills, technology skills and personalized learning strategies found throughout the school. Finally, our bands are members of the Arrowhead Area Consortium Bands, which are comprised of students from Richmond, Stone Bank, North Lake, Swallow and Lake Country.
